Choose a palette for your kitchen beyond the usual white. If you do the cooking, this is where you spend a pretty large chunk of your time so it is only fair that you enjoy the experience! Large or small, a kitchen can be made to look attractive with a fresh coat of paint and contrasting or matching accessories.
  • Cabinetry accounts for a large part of your kitchen's surfaces, so installing cabinets (or painting cabinets) in your chosen shade will inject a huge splash of color.
  • While white and natural wood are popular choices for kitchen cabinets, gray offers a sleek and sophisticated look especially when paired with black granite countertops.
  • In an all-white kitchen, painting or papering the interior of a glass front or open cabinet makes quite a statement.
  • To make the room more vibrant, introduce a bright accent color - as gray pairs well with almost every bold color. Try painting any stand-alone piece or architectural element a bright colour. It could be a small table in the kitchen or the alcove that is used for open storage.
  • If you are really adventurous you could try painting your old and chipped fridge. Or you could carefully measure out wallpaper and stick it in place!
  • Juicy citrus hues are the latest trend in kitchen design and pair well with brown woodwork. Muted tones of blues, yellows, and greens also pair well with natural-wood finishes.
  • To make a small kitchen appear larger, paint the ceiling a shade or two lighter than the walls.
  • Enhance the lighting and see a world of difference. Oversized colourful fixtures are another bright way to add colour to the room.
