Tepoztlan Lounge is the first of several open minimalist structures being designed by Cadaval & Solà-Morales. Located in the Mexican town of Tepoztlanepoztla, the Tepoztlán Lounge is the first building to be completed as part of a larger project constituting bungalows that can be rented by years, months or days.
The lounge is the central communal space for leisure and embraces the surrounding nature and manicured lawn – perfectly offsetting the wild, untamed forest that forms its backdrop. The open and the contained space merge seamlessly into one another to create a stunning architectural entity that incorporates two existing trees in its design.
The Tepoztlan Lounge is constructed in concrete because it is inexpensive, durable and requires low maintenance. It has three separate areas - The first holds an open bar with a kitchenette, together with restrooms; the second is a play area for children and the largest is the lounge area with a TV etc.
